Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej Now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to be awarded a score of 10 for the Olympic competition. Bela Karolyi, later Romanian Gymnastics Coach discovered Comaneci as she was only seven years old. The year 1969 was the first time she participated in the Romanian Junior Games and placed 13th. In 1970, she won the title. In 1972, in an event for communist-controlled countries' juniors before the Olympics, she was awarded three medals of gold. In 1973 and '74 she was the overall junior champion. Her first senior competition in 1975, she beat Russian Lyudmila Turkishcheva, the five-time European champ winning four golds and one argent. In 1976, she was the first person in the world who used a double backwards salto in order to take off parallel bars. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. When she was in her teens, she began performing in travelling shows such as Ice Capades as a skater alongside her younger sister Nina Wayne. Carol Marie Wayne was a born on 6th September, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. Carol began her career in the entertainment business when she was in her teens. As a young girl she was the figure skater alongside Nina Wayne in the travelling entertainment program Ice Capades. They featured ice skating shows which included stage performances.
